This movie, Bully, discusses the problems we have with bullying in America. These problems are often forgotten or hidden. There are children that are bullied everyday and are too afraid to tell someone and get help. The outcomes of bullying can be extremely detrimental, sometimes ending in death. Kids should never have to be afraid to go to school, to log onto a social networking site and should definitely never have to be afraid to talk to someone about their problems. Something needs to be done, and you can start by seeing this movie.
This movie, although, has been given an R rating, making it very hard for the people who need to watch this movie, kids, to see it. A young girl, Katy Butler, who was bullied herself, started a petition that currently has over 500,000 signatures on it. Ellen DeGeneres, Drew Brees, Demi Lovato and Avan Tudor Jogia are among the celebrities that are supporting this girl's quest. The petition can be signed at: http://www.change.org/petitions/mpaa-don-t-let-the-bullies-win-give-bully-a-pg-13-instead-of-an-r-rating
A big problem, is that there are still people, who even after seeing this, will still be just as cruel as they were before. They are the people that we need to find and that we need to stop. No one should have to go through something so traumatic everyday.
The movie has now been released with a PG-13 rating, allowing more children the chance to see the movie. Hopefully, this will do some good.
